Serving as a Cleveland Marathon Administrator this year has prompted me to look back at my running journey, which includes completing twoscore+ road races since 2008. I know some readers have followed my blog from the commencement in 2010, but if yous haven't or have forgotten some of the details, I wanted to share them today.
Running Journeying
My Running Story
My first road race was in 2008. I walked the Castalia Cold Creek 5K in Castalia, Ohio at my then swain (now husband's) prompting. I was likewise agape to run. I knew I could finish 3.one miles if I walked, so that's what I did.
Ii months after I ran my outset 5K at the Milan Melon Festival in Milan, Ohio. I wasn't blogging still and then I have no photos – only my memories.
In tardily 2008 I moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana and in that location my running journeying blossomed. I ran three races in 2009, all 5Ks. I started my web log in Apr 2010 and the starting time road race I recapped on my blog was the Winona Lake Run for Fun 5K.
I was reading other running blogs. I had to have my own. I continued to run and weblog through 2010. I ran my first 12K and commencement 10K race that summertime. Then in September I ran my get-go half-marathon, the Fort-iv-Fitness.
I ran more 500 miles per year during that time. I was also blogging five days a week, writing about my grooming, race recaps, fueling and running gear. I as well experimented with barefoot running.
To date, 2022 and 2022 were my all-time years running. I ran roughly a dozen races both years and completed 2 more half-marathons, my tertiary of which was the Cleveland Half-Marathon in 2012.
I did not PR but I was able to complete the race. Temperatures were in the upper 80s and many runners, suffering from heat exhaustion, did not make it to the finish line.
Running is what started my blogging journey. I rebranded my blog in 2022 and changed my niche to "health and lifestyle." That aforementioned year I started to "burn down out" on running. Maybe I overdid it. Maybe my involvement waned. Either way I only ran a handful of races in 2022 and 2014.

In 2022 I was pregnant and ran recreationally until the mid-way point of my pregnancy. Later that I stuck to swimming, prenatal yoga and walking. In 2022 I found myself with commitments at domicile (a newborn!) just a want to remain agile.
Every bit of late I take been practicing yoga; and attending Infant Boot Camp Cleveland classes – which allow moms to exercise with their babies.
As 2022 takes hold, I'grand a piddling nervous to begin running again, but I believe serving every bit a Cleveland Marathon Ambassador will give me the motivation and encouragement I need. My running journey is not coming to an end yet.
Disclosure: As a 2022 Cleveland Marathon Ambassador, I volition receive complimentary entry into the race of my choice, an ambassador shirt, along with special access to pre and mail service-race events, in exchange for writing almost my training for this event.
